The Voice Of America

The VOA is a multimedia international broadcasting service funded by the U.S. government through the Broadcasting Board of Governors. The VOA broadcasts from studios located in Washington D.C. VOA broadcasts more than 1,000 hours of news, information, educational, and cultural programming every week to an estimated worldwide audience of more than 100 million people via medium wave, shortwave, satellite broadcasts and the internet.

The VOA has two main services, which are broadcast 24 hours a day.

VOA News Now is news and information service which was the replacement of VOA World Wide English service. It was centered around the most popular news program the VOA had at the time. There is a 5 minute news bulletin at the top and bottom of the hour and, at special features at specific times during the hour. Plus there are specialty programs that are targeted to specific regions, daily and weekly.

VOA Music Mix which replaced VOA Express, which itself replaced the former VOA Europe. VOA Music Mix is a international/adult contempary formatted music station, which is distributed through satellite and local radio stations around the world. It simulcast with VOA News Now for the news at the top of the hour, and its music until news time. They also carry a lot of programs that the old World Wide English service used to carry.
 
  The Voice Of America also broadcasts in 52 languages to various locations around the world mainly through shortwave and some local radio stations, expressing the views and options of the United States Government.
